Helena Montana Trip

Was fantastic. The sheer amount of rain was insane though. We rolled in after a long long ass drive on Friday then we amused ourselves in the rain. We had a eight in the morning call. Lord help me but I hate those. Cause to be honest, we have to be there an hour before so that the kids have time to fully warm up their arms. It was raining like crazy. So after 1/2 an inning and a purchase of four large umbrellas from a local grocery store, they postponed the game until three. They pushed all the games back so they could haul in a lot of dirt and clean up the fields after the storm. It was a hot mess. Mud everywhere. between games, we were washing loads of the girls' uniforms at the hotel which the kids all in the hot tub warming up. Helena is beautiful but cold as hell. In June. Blah. In some of our downtime, we managed to sightsee and do some touristy stuff. That is way better than shopping and frankly the girls are getting where they'd rather do some fun stuff like that than just buy stuff at the mall just to buy it. (Although yes, I still managed to run into Lowes just to buy Folex. I won't point out that my youngest child may have dropped a cupcake with horribly red bright food coloring icing onto my kitchen carpet!)
She played well. We moved on and then playing centerfield. She caught the highest best popup that I've ever seen. Bless her heart. It was a total nail bitter. Dave and I were leaning back and forth in our chairs. She was going forward, then back, then to the side. Everyone in the stands were silent, nobody was saying a word except the coach from the other team who was screaming at his hitter, RUN RUN RUN as she rounded second. It was that freaking high in the air. She plucks it out of the sky and I'm pretty sure that the words "no fucking way" fell out of my mouth when she did. It was literally that impossible. The umps gave her a card after the game for a free tournament tshirt for that amazing catch. She's my little rockstar.
Dave made sure we had a blast though: between the zoo, the indoor water park, the adventure of finding frozen yogurt in a strange town, planking in the hotel park, skateboarding in the hallway (don't ask), and the train ride through town by which we got to see all the historic sites. Mansions. Buildings, Cool stories about famous Helena people. And oh the huge scandels, lol. Interesting stuff. Specially the part where Dave was covering Duchess' ears while we were hearing about houses of ill repute. Oh My.
